Welcome from the Dean

As one of the top universities in China, Beijing Jiaotong University has glorious history. Traditional culture and modern Technology are well balanced in the University. The Department of Architecture and Art Design has a long history and plays an important role in the university.

After the development of more than 20 years, Department of Architecture and Art Design has already had an excellent teachers’ team which is mainly formed by young and mid-aged teachers , meanwhile , this team has a good development trend with the rational configuration , precise teaching and active thoughts.

There are 42 teachers in our Department——8 professors, 11 associate professors and 22 lecturers of graduate students,55% of teachers have doctor degree, 86% have master or higher degree. Except that, the major of Architecture has 7 visiting professors from all over the world.

We have signed many companies,such as Beijing Institute of Architectural Desig(Grade A), The Fifth Survey and Design Institute (Group) Co., Ltd. Of CRCC (China Railway Construction Corporation Limited) (Grade A),5+1 Werkhart International Architecture Design Group(Grade A),Beijing Urbanscape International Institute of Architecture Design (Grade A). for the students to have their internships .We also have five bases for cultivating graduate student , founded by the cooperation of our Department and the governments of Zhengzhou , Beihai , Fangshan district and Haidian distict of Beijing , Guangxi Hualan design company .

We have set up the cooperative relationship with Moscow School of Architecture and the two schools intend to hold an international exhibition of architecture design in 2009 together. In addition, we signed an agreement with Twente University in the Netherlands about the cultivating of graduate students together. Depending on the agreement, we sent out 10 students to study in Twente University for 3 months in 2009 and had a further discussion on the cooperation .Now, we are communicating with the Yousong University in Korea, and we plan to cultivate 20 graduate students together with the mode of 1+1.

Our students are welcomed by both oversea architecture university and companies. Many students work as key person in domestic and international famous architecture design companies and groups.

In order to enlarge the cooperation and exchange with universities abroad, we launched oversea recruitment in 2009 and we are happy to see more students will benefit from our advanced education and good chance to study in BeiJing and its plentiful architectural research resources. We will make the students have a solid foundation of their majors and an extrodinary start on their career lifes.
